PCC Cascade Campus offers a state-certified pre-apprenticeship training program called the Excellence in Trades and Apprenticeship Preparation (ETAP). The ETAP program is the path to get you started in a fulfilling, lifelong career in the trades.
What does ETAP offer?
ETAP takes men and women at the pre-apprenticeship level and gives them an intense 10-week training in current important trade skills. ETAP graduates are prepared to begin immediately working in the construction trades. The program offers:
- Free Training:
- ETAP students graduate with 200 hours of free introduction to construction training.
- College Credit:
- ETAP students graduate with 8 PCC credit hours.
- A Start to Your Career:
- Get your foot in the door to a career in the construction trades.
- Job Placement Assistance:
- Job placement and retention assistance for up to one year after graduation.
- Recognized Certification:
- Graduation from ETAP is recognized by Bureau of Labor and Industries (BOLI) as well as Trade Unions and Open Shop Apprenticeship Programs.
What will you learn in the ETAP program?
ETAP challenges, trains, and motivates students to learn:
- Construction math
- Framing and setting concrete forms
- Operation of hand and power tools
- Working as a team member
- Financial tools for the trades
- Skills to help students keep pace with the challenging, demanding and cyclical nature of the trades profession
Who can participate in the program?
ETAP serves men and women who are interested in a career in the construction trades. We focus on recruiting people with a high desire to succeed in the trades industry. People of color, women, public housing/low-income residents are encouraged to apply.
