Members Present: Susanne Christopher, Mark Hagen, Lucinda Eshleman, Dave Stout, Tony Zable, Kevin Lien

Guests: Mike Cleghorn, Beth Fitzgerald, Scott Huff for Multimedia at CA

1. Mike Cleghorn, Beth Fitzgerald and Scott Huff were here proposing a new degree: AAS in Multimedia

Currently the program has a one-year multimedia certificate. The proposed degree is a result of feedback from local professionals and the advisory board, who need students with broader backgrounds.

Changes were suggested in the Gen Ed courses and required vs. recommended electives.

Motion to recommend approval of the AAS in Multimedia as amended in our discussion was approved. Changes will be incorporated into the proposal that is forwarded to the EAC.

2. Minutes of meeting from 2 February 2005 were approved without correction!

3. AAS “Last 18” Discussion

Our proposal last month reads as follows:

“The final 18 credits that apply to the degree must include at least nine credits at PCC that apply to the specific program requirements, excluding courses used solely for the General Education requirements. Students may apply to the department chair for waiver of this requirement.”

Phil Thurber offered some additional language at the EAC. Susanne also changed the number of credits to reflect the 3-4 credit conversion. Here is our latest proposal:

“The final 16 credits that apply to the degree must include at least eight credits at PCC that apply to the specific program requirements, excluding courses used solely for the General Education requirements. Students may apply to the department chair for waiver of this requirement if they can demonstrate currency in the field.”

Motion to recommend approval of this amended requirement for the AAS degree was approved.

4. The next meeting will be April 6, 2005 in the CT conference room, 3-5 pm.
