Minutes

May 7, 2003, Sylvania Campus, 3:30-5pm, CT219

Present: Susanne Christopher, Amy Murray, Patty Barnett, Linda Gettman, Bob Ewing, Pat Lewis, Tony Zable, Dave Stout

1. Mark Hagen and Jeff Triplett are here to talk about Drafting Technology and Design Certificate. This change has been dictated by reductions in staff and loss of the Associate’s program. It would be replaced with this one-year certificate instead, according to the proposal.

Motion to recommend approval of the new certificate passed unanimously.

2. Susan Williams is here to talk with us about the proposed Medical Coding certificate program.

The proposal was amended as follows:

In the third term and fourth term add a single General Education 3 credit Social Science or Humanities elective.

Motion to recommend approval of the certificate with the above amendment passed unanimously.

3. Amy Murray updated the committee on the changes to the Landscape programs.

  • Associate of Applied Science in Landscape Technology

Motion to recommend approval of the degree passed unanimously.

  • Landscape Services Technician One-Year Certificate

Motion to recommend approval of the certificate passed unanimously.

  • Landscape Management Two-Year Certificate

We had too many unanswered questions to pass this particular certificate.

  • Landscape Construction Two-Year Certificate

We had too many unanswered questions to pass this particular certificate.

  • Plant Propagation Two-Year Certificate

We had too many unanswered questions to pass this particular certificate.

  • Landscape Design Two-Year Certificate

We had too many unanswered questions to pass this particular certificate.

4. We then discussed the new requirements for the PCC High School diploma. Linda Gettmann gave us an update and promised to keep us posted of future changes to the list of PCC courses that meet the HS diploma requirements.

5. Motion to approve minutes of April 14, 2003 as amended passed unanimously.

Meeting adjourned at 5:20 pm. Next meeting scheduled for June 4, 2003, 3:30-5:00 pm in CT 219 conference room.
