VT – Vet Tech Instructor Qualifications

 

VT102, VT103, VT104, VT107, VT108, VT109, VT110, VT111, VT112, VT 204, VT205, VT207, VT208, VT210, VT211, VT280:

  • Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree or the equivalent in Veterinary Technology from an AVMA accredited institution and
  • 5 years experience working in a veterinary hospital, clinic, research facility, or the equivalent and
  • State of Oregon Certification as a licensed Veterinary Technician (CVT), or license-eligible with license acquired prior to initial teaching assignment.

OR

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree plus veterinary licensure in the State of Oregon by the Oregon Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners, or license-eligible with license acquired prior to initial teaching assignment.

VT 101:

  • Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree or the equivalent in Veterinary Technology from an AVMA accredited institution and
  • 5 years experience working in a veterinary hospital, clinic, research facility, or the equivalent and
  • State of Oregon Certification as a licensed Veterinary Technician (CVT), or license-eligible with license acquired prior to initial teaching assignment

OR

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree plus veterinary licensure in the State of Oregon by the Oregon Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners, or license-eligible with license acquired prior to initial teaching assignment.

OR

  • Masters degree in Agricultural Education, Animal Science or Veterinary Science

VT121:

  • Bachelor of Science in Animal Science plus Master’s of Education in Agriculture Education,

OR

  • Master’s of Science in Animal Science,

OR

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree plus veterinary licensure in the State of Oregon by the Oregon Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners, or license-eligible with license acquired prior to initial teaching assignment.; large animal experience preferable,

OR

  • Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree or the equivalent in Veterinary Technology from and AVMA accredited intuition and
  • 5 years experience working in a veterinary hospital, clinic, research facility, or the equivalent; large animal experience preferable and
  • State of Oregon Certification as a licensed Veterinary Technician (CVT), or license-eligible with license acquired prior to initial teaching assignment.

VT113: 

  • Masters of Science in Microbiology, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M.), or Medical Doctor (M.D.) with broad knowledge base in the classification of infectious microbes, the common diseases which they cause, and their growth and identification in the laboratory.

VT201 and VT202:

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree plus veterinary licensure in the State of Oregon by the Oregon Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners, or license-eligible with license acquired prior to initial teaching assignment.; small animal experience preferable

VT 203:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree or the equivalent in Veterinary Technology from an AVMA accredited institution and
  • 5 years experience working in a veterinary hospital, clinic, research facility, or the equivalent and
  • State of Oregon Certification as a licensed Veterinary Technician (CVT), or license-eligible with license acquired prior to initial teaching assignment.

OR

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree plus veterinary licensure in the State of Oregon by the Oregon Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners, or license-eligible with license acquired prior to initial teaching assignment.

  Ideal/Preferred Candidate:

  • Minimum CVT qualifications, as above, PLUS current VTS certification in one or more areas.

VT209:

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree plus veterinary licensure in the State of Oregon by the Oregon Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners, or license-eligible with license acquired prior to initial teaching assignment.; large animal experience preferable.
