HR – Culinary Assistant Instructor Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or higher in the following:

(the list of degree areas below may not be inclusive as there are other degree titles that may be appropriate. The Division Dean, in consultation with the Faculty Department Chair (and/or screening committee), will make a recommendation to the Dean of Instruction about the applicability of a particular degree that is outside the scope of these lists)

  • Education
  • Special Education
  • Management
  • Psychology
  • Social Work
  • Rehabilitation Counseling
  • Vocational Rehabilitation
  • Human Development

AND

A minimum of 5 years recent, full-time, working experience in education, management, food services, or related fields (Bachelor’s degree in the subject area may substitute 1 year, while Master’s degree may substitute 2 years for the 5-year working experience); AND

At least three years full time equivalent experience working with students/individuals with special needs (all years of professional experience may be accumulated concurrently); AND

Oregon Food Handler’s Certificate is required within first month of hire.

Related Instruction

HR 107, HR 108, and HR 109 includes embedded Related Instruction in Computation, Communication and Human Relations. In order to teach these courses, instructor must have:

  • completed college-level algebra or higher Math (for Computation) and
  • completed college-level writing course (for Communication) and
  • documented teaching experience (for Human Relations)
