Instructor Qualifications prior to May 26, 2021

Master’s degree or PhD in Ethnic Studies, Comparative Ethnic Studies, Critical Ethnic Studies, American Ethnic Studies

OR

Master’s degree or PhD in African American Studies, American Studies, American Indian Studies, Asian American Studies, Black Studies, Border Studies, Central American Studies, Chicano/a Studies, Cultural Anthropology, Cultural Studies, Indigenous Nations Studies, Mexican American Studies, Native American Studies AND 4 or more quarter credit hours of graduate credit in Ethnic Studies

OR

Master’s degree or PhD in any social science or humanities field AND 12 or more quarter credit hours of graduate credit in Ethnic Studies

OR

Master’s degree or PhD in any social science or humanities field AND dissertation/thesis employing an interdisciplinary approach to the study of race and ethnicity.

This list may not be inclusive as there are other degree titles that may be appropriate for the subject and related areas. The Division Dean in consultation with the Faculty Department Chair will make a recommendation to the Dean of Instruction about the applicability of a particular degree that is outside the scope of this list.
