The Committee suggested the Psychology SAC might want to look at making WR 115 a prerequisite in stead of a recommendation in their course descriptions. At this time, an amendment was also made to PSY 101 and 190 to included in the course description “Recommended: Completion of WR 115.” That will bring then in line with the other psychology courses with the same recommendations.

Provides insight into the nuances of an IP focused practice. An overview of substantive law providing context of the issues. Students have an opportunity to research, locate, interact, complete, and file relevant documents pertaining to procedural and litigation issues of an IP law Practice. Critical thinking and determination of the students future desire to pursue a career in IP law, including attending law school, will be encouraged. Introduces the basic terms, concepts, laws, and administrative rules necessary to interpret and accomplish tasks typically assigned to legal assistants by attorneys in intellectual property (IP) law practices. Emphasizes patent and trademark prosecution (filing documents with the United States Patent and Trademark Office), copyrights, and to lesser extent, unique facets of IP litigation.

Fieldwork includes shadow mentorships, informational interviews, market research, portfolio development and other career enhancing activities.
