Hannah Newman presents an installation inside the gallery that directs our attention to our attention. Newman employs multiple analog materials, time and place to express her own relationship with digital technologies, language and attention.

My work is a way for me to investigate questions concerning the language, attention and the digital in a personal way, allowing me to “know” these topics in a way that is bodily, emotional and experiential. The infinities of both language and the digital become constrained by the limits of my body, patience and insistence as I work to make our experience of attention tangible.

Noticing tour

This tour will explore the Cascade campus and surrounding neighborhood as a place for noticing, looking, and contemplation, and the place I chose for my work on the sidewalks. Using artistic tactics we will explore the area together, sharing out experiences of the campus as an aesthetic experience and considering what draws our attention and why.
