When does the Nursing program begin?
After a competitive application process that takes place from February through June, a new cohort of 40 students begins their classes in September, at the start of fall term. To view this year’s specific admissions timeline, view the Nursing application page.
What is the estimated total program cost of the Nursing program?
The total estimated cost of the two-year program, not including prerequisites, is $22,500. To learn more about general admissions and fees, visit the paying for college page.
Can I get a bachelor’s degree with a major in nursing after I get my associate’s degree in nursing?
Yes. PCC’s Nursing program joined the Oregon Consortium for Nursing Education (OCNE), a partnership with Oregon Health Sciences University that allows students who have completed their Associate of Applied Science degree at PCC to transition to OHSU to complete a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in nursing in one additional year. Several programs in the Portland area are designed for students who have earned an associate’s degree in nursing (ADN) and want to complete their bachelor’s degree. You may view Oregon nursing schools that have bachelor’s degree programs on the University Transfer website. If you click on “Sort by Major” and scroll down to nursing, you can view a side-by-side comparison of the nursing schools. Please note: requirements listed at PCC’s transfer website may vary from the RN to BSN completion requirements. Please contact the university of interest for advising and counseling.
If you would like to enter a bachelor’s program without completing PCC’s ADN program, please contact an academic advisor in the Healthcare and Emergency Professions (HEP) pathway.
Can I repeat courses for higher grades? Is there a limit to the number of times I can repeat them?
We will use the most recent grade for prerequisite GPA calculation. Students looking to retake classes should be aware that repeated courses may not be eligible for financial aid.
Do you have an LPN to RN program?
PCC does not currently have an LPN to RN bridge program. Students with an LPN do earn additional points on their application to the RN Nursing program, but they will not be eligible for advanced placement. Please refer to the Nursing application page for more information.
Does PCC assist in job placement once students graduate from the Nursing program?
No. However, PCC Career Services can help students sharpen their job-hunting skills. Another helpful resource is CampusRN.
Does PCC have nursing-specific scholarships and grants?
Yes. PCC offers a variety of scholarships and grants to students interested in our healthcare programs. Please visit the PCC financial aid website to see a comprehensive list and directions that will assist in your search.

Do I need to have a Social Security Number (SSN) to get my Nursing License?
To combat fraud, the Oregon State Board of Nursing (OSBN) requires a Social Security Number (SSN) from all applicants, including those renewing their licenses. This is in accordance with Oregon Revised Statute 25.785. Refusal to provide your SSN will lead to the denial of your license or certification, and this denial will be reported to the National Practitioner Databank.
If you’re not a U.S. citizen, here’s what you can provide instead of an SSN:
- A copy of your U.S. work visa (such as H1B, I-766, or any other current federal government form authorizing you to work in the United States).
- If you’re on an F1 student visa, submit copies of your I-94 and I-20 forms, signed by your school’s designated authority.

Does the Nursing program require basic computer competency?
A computer competency course is not required. However, success in the Nursing program requires that applicants be confident and comfortable in their computer literacy skills, such as word processing, data entry, use of spreadsheets, and internet research.
