CNC Operator Readiness Essentials (CORE)

Want to train quickly to launch a good career? If so, this 2-week intensive training is for you! The CNC (Computer Numerical Control) Operator Readiness Essentials program is grant-funded so offered at no cost to you. Learn the core skills you need for employment as an entry-level CNC Operator.

CNC operators set up, monitor, and control computer-controlled machinery to produce precision parts. The average base salary in Oregon is $20 per hour. Upon completion of the program, interview with local employers, or keep studying to advance your career beyond entry level.

Cohort dates
  • February 16 – 27, 2026: M–F, 9am–3pm at PCC Sylvania Campus
  • March 16 – 27, M–F, 9am–3pm at OMIC Training Center
  • April 20 – May 1, 2026: M–F, 9am–3pm at PCC Sylvania Campus
Process
  • Columbia County residents: To be considered for the upcoming cohort (March 16–27) at OMIC Training Center, complete the following:
    1. Complete this interest form.
    2. Participate in an information session to learn more about the program. Options are February 10 from 12-12:30pm, February 11 from 5:30-6:30pm, or February 13 from 9-10am. Log on at the scheduled time to join us via Zoom.
    3. Complete a 15-minute screening interview via Zoom immediately following your info session.
    4. You will be notified via email if you made it into the cohort, and you’ll need to confirm your participation. 10 seats available!
  • Outside of Columbia County: Upcoming CORE classes at Sylvania Campus are currently full. Please complete the interest form if you would like to be informed about future class dates (TBD).

Screening considerations

Prior experience with machines or manufacturing is not required to participate in this program. However, we are seeking candidates who want to work in manufacturing as a career, and want to learn the role of a CNC Machine Operator. To be eligible for this class, you must be able to work in the U.S., have intermediate English skills, and be able to attend all 10 days of training.
