National Safety Month

Thank you to all faculty and staff who engaged in National Safety Month activities throughout June 2025 through a variety of activities, emphasizing slip, trip and fall injury prevention.  PCC recognized this important opportunity to emphasize student and employee safety well-being,  informing students and staff of ways they could adopt safe habits while at PCC.  PCC’s recognition of National Safety Month fosters a culture of inclusion and well being, supporting PCC’s mission to deliver access to quality education, while also promoting sustainability in a collaborative environment.

Passbook to Safety

This year, faculty and staff can use the Passbook to Safety – Steps Toward a Safer College Community to track safety-related activities and/or training from now through the remainder of the year. Completed Passbook events and activities will help students, staff and faculty learn about safety at PCC, help improve our safety culture and may even prevent an injury. Those signing and submitting the included pledge card will be entered into a raffle at the end of the calendar year for the potential to win a prize!

Preventing Slips, Trips, and Falls

Most slip, trip & fall injuries are preventable and can be avoided by knowing more about the “4 Fs” – Fitness, Focus, Footwear and Phenomena. Someone’s level of fitness, ability to focus on the path of travel, their footwear, and weather and/or illumination levels that we’ll refer to as phenomena all contribute to someone’s ability to prevent slips, trips, and falls.  Being knowledgeable of these four factors won’t guarantee that you will avoid a slip, trip or fall injury, but can help you navigate across any walking surface with a greater degree of confidence and awareness of potential hazards.
