Ethics for a Sustainable Future

“What ethics are needed to perpetuate life on Earth?”

Thursday, February 5

3:00-5:30 pm

Performing Arts Center Lobby

PCC Sylvania Campus

12000 SW 49th Ave, Portland, OR 97219

How can we create new ways of being to help build sustainable communities? Perceiving Earth and all her inhabitants as living systems helps us explore this core question. Join Dr. Charles Hopkins, UNESCO Chair in Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and Adviser to the RCEs of the Americas, along with other community leaders, in a Talking Circle, to explore how ethics and principles can be embodied in our lives and work to create a sustainable future.

This modified fishbowl model will have concentric circles, with the audience in the Outer Circle invited to listen and ask questions of the Talking Circle. We expect new topics to emerge from this gathering, leading to follow-up events and actions. All are welcome to attend.

Sponsored by the Greater Portland Sustainability Education Network (GPSEN), Ethical Future Institute, Earth and Spirit Council, and Portland Community College.
