Details about this class
Hello and thank you for your interest in G148 Volcanoes and Earthquakes!
I think it is important for us all to have a better understanding of our home planet Earth and the natural systems around us. My goals for this course are for students to learn and understand how Volcanoes & Earthquakes function, why they exist where they do and how communities can best live with earthquakes, volcanoes and volcanic eruptions, and their associated hazards.
Basic course information:
- Weekly tasks & assignments include: Lecture videos (YouTube/Kaltura), OER textbook readings, practice activities/questions, online discussions, Labs, quizzes and projects. Students who have the best success in this course tend to block out time each week for these tasks, take notes while watching videos and stay in contact with me (Eriks) when they have questions. Another great habit is to come to weekly Q & A office hours or set up one on one meetings when needed.
- Interested in getting to know your instructor?
- If you would like an example of a course syllabus, please view this Sample Syllabus from a previous term. Be advised: this is from last term, this term the class will have different dates along with other minor changes - if you take this course, please use the version provided in the course D2L page once the term begins.
If you have any questions about the course, please reach out and email me! (eriks.puris@pcc.edu)
