Healthcare
  • Kaiser Volunteer opportunities are available to students beginning at age 16. Learn more about the different settings you can volunteer in and apply today! Clinical shadowing is also available.
  • Portland Workforce Alliance Future of Nursing: 5-week program, November – December 2025. Students engage with local nursing schools and health care employers to explore careers in nursing, get peer coaching from nursing students, and gain hands-on experience. Apply before October 16.
Automotive, Welding, & Clean Energy
  • Union Pacific Railroad: Insight to Engineering: On June 11, experience a “day in the life” as a track laborer to see how crews saw and drill rail, as well as install railroad spikes. Learn about engineering, welding, electrician, construction, and leadership careers within the railroad industry. Two sessions are offered, morning and afternoon. The event is open to the public. Students must be 16 years old.

  • CIS Tools (must be logged into account to access):
    • Career Learning Areas section of CIS, which is organized by career clusters. Each cluster contains information on real jobs, the skills you’ll need, education or training options, and what the future job market looks like.
    • Occupation List showing wages and salaries, required education or training, and can be compared with other careers.
    • Oregon Certificate Sort database for all short-term training, accredited certificate, and apprentice programs in the state, organized by county.
  • Career and College Readiness Class for Families: 10-week asynchronous and synchronous course building out a CCR action plan. Next class starts Winter 2026.
  • Professional Communication Skills: Your Bridge to Success: Will help participants build confidence, overcome communication barriers, and communicate effectively. Virtual Workshop December 9.
