Free brown-bag lecture series revs up your lunch hour

PORTLAND, Ore. – If you have been spending a little bit too much time with your computer lately and are ready for a real lunch hour in the company of people and ideas then the Portland Community College non-credit, free lunch and learn lecture series may be just what you need for an extra boost. Hear from professional, energetic speakers about issues relevant to your professional and personal life.

Bring your lunch and join us every noon to 1 p.m., Thursdays, April 13 through May 18 at the Downtown Central Library, 801 S.W. 10th Ave. Portland Community College’s Downtown Lecture Series will include the following topics:

Positive Visualization (April 13). Don Clarkson will demonstrate simple ways to focus your mind power and energy to visualize positive changes in your life.

First Things First (April 20). Do you find yourself always rushing, but you never seem to get anywhere? If you are no closer to achieving your personal or professional goals than you were a year ago, let Frank Mungeam show you how to put first things first.

Make the Leap: What it Really Takes to Change Careers (April 27). Are you considering making a major career change? Join Jennifer Anderson in exploring the truth about what it really takes to change careers successfully.

Emotional Vampires: Dealing with People Who Drain You Dry (May 4). Have relationships with self-absorbed narcissists, drama queens, passive aggressive gossips, or perfectionist tyrants? Gail Corbly will discuss how to deal with these types of people before they drain you dry.

Laughing at Life (May 11). A good laugh is good business. Bob Czimabl will help you develop your sense of humor and have more fun both at work and at home.

Listening on Purpose (May 18). Instructor Rob Russell will explore the best listening practices. Learn how to avoid listening pitfalls and how to recognize five different listening purposes.
