PCC offers non-credit guitar lessons in Lake Oswego

LAKE OSWEGO, Ore. – Whether you’re into jazz, country or rock-on-roll, there is one instrument that takes center stage in almost all genres: the guitar. Now Portland Community College will give you an opportunity with two non-credit classes in Lake Oswego, led by Anne Phillip.Guitar Beginning: Level I will explain the fundamentals: proper playing position, tuning techniques, right-hand picking patterns and left-hand exercises to improve independent finger movement. You’ll be strumming patterns and easy chords in no time. The eight-week class will meet from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, Jan. 27 through March 17, at the Lake Oswego Adult Community Center, 505 G Ave. Cost is $67; bring a guitar to the first class.Tired of teaching yourself guitar on your own? Get guitar basics by learning a new rock song every other week in Guitar: Classic Rock. Designed for beginning and all levels, the class will offer opportunities to practice with a partner. By the end of class, students will know three to four new songs.
