Food Insecurity Service Sunday

Sylvania Learning Garden and CC Building at Sylvania
Sunday March 18th 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
We will prepare garden beds for Spring term with plant starts brought by the Mountain Park Church congregation. After planting everyone will gather over refreshments to share what projects they have been working on to address Food Insecurity. We will brainstorm about future projects including possible church gardening projects during summer term to help keep the garden plots going and a small appliance/recipe project for the pantry, etc.

In the CC Building (TLC & ASPCC Food Pantry), we will be bagging donations (some brought by the church members) for the pantry to prepare for the increased need during Finals Week/Spring Break. We will have a similar refreshments/sharing time to the one in the Learning Garden.

Contact Diane Shingledecker for more information and opportunities to get involved in this project

This Fall we will need help keeping the garden weeded, harvested, and replanted. We will provide gloves, tools, and tasty snacks. Volunteers get to take home a portion of the day’s harvest! If you are interested in starting up the Organic Gardening Club, contact Venus at venus.barnes@pcc.edu.

About the Volunteer Opportunities Newsletter

The Volunteer Opportunities Newsletter allows students, faculty, and staff at PCC a more comprehensive look at volunteer needs and opportunities from our community partners. Our hope is that the newsletter will allow subscribers to stay better informed about community service opportunities in the tri-county areas of Portland, Oregon, as well as non-profit internships and scholarships available locally and nationally.
