3. Volunteers of America Oregon: Support intergenerational activities with youth and seniors

Tuesday, October 20, 10 am-1 p.m (lunch included!)
Lambert House: 2600 SE 170th Ave. Portland 97236

Lend a hand and enjoy a day assisting and engaging adults with functional and/or cognitive impairments, and preschoolers from our Family Relief Nursery, with a variety of therapeutic activities, which may include: Blanket making * Crayon making * Chalk making * Tai Chi * Music Therapy * Doll making * Art Therapy * Horticulture

Both the elderly and young children can experience isolation from a lack of support and connection, especially when their caregivers are over-burdened. Build community and connection across the generations or be the ones to honor our elders with laughter and new experiences! The elders often ask for groups to come back again, everyone retells stories about their experiences (a huge step for those with dementia), and elders are more calm and relaxed for days afterwards.

6. El Programa Hispano Catolico: Seeking Spanish-speakers to help the low income community – no experience necessary!

EPHC offers free tax preparation to the low-income community, providing vulnerable taxpayers a trustworthy alternative to unlicensed tax preparers and to paying to prepare their basic tax returns. Last season our volunteers helped over 1,000 taxpayers secure $2.2 million in refunds. Volunteers do not need prior tax knowledge, we provide the free training!

We are seeking bilingual individuals to volunteer as tax preparers, intake assistants and interpreters 5 hours per week during tax season (late January to mid-April). Our tax program is completely volunteer-based—the more volunteers we receive the more low-income taxpayers we are able to help!
