NEW POSTINGS

Below are 5 NEW POSTINGS from these organizations: BoyStrength, Outside In, Sexual Assault Resource Center, Willamette West Habitat for Humanity, and Gentiva Hospice.

1. BoyStrength: Portland Police Bureau seeks motivated men to help prevent youth violence

BoyStrength is the Portland Police Bureau’s primary violence prevention program, part of the Bureau’s Family Services Division.

The goal of BoyStrength is to teach communication skills to boys, in order to help reduce dating violence, sexual assault, gang involvement, bullying, and the commercial sexual exploitation of children. Additionally, this program aims to foster healthy relationships, boundary setting, bystander intervention, and violence de-escalation techniques. The BoyStrength curriculum is also designed to meet state and common core standards for health, physical education and literacy. Since BoyStrength’s inception in 2013, we have served over 200 boys in schools all across the Portland-Metro area.

BoyStrength is 100% volunteer facilitated by men that live in the Portland area. These men come from all walks of life; daycare teacher, chaplain, medical student, and business executive, are a few of the many occupations that our volunteers hold. However, in their free time, these men dedicate themselves in trying to educate a new generation of boys that are compassionate, non-violent, and productive members of society.

Please visit: portlandoregon.gov/police/boystrength for volunteer applications.

2. Outside In: Volunteer Opportunities at Outside In!

Outside In has a variety of volunteers opportunities available. Help provide healthy meals to clients, work with dogs in our dog daycare, participate in the running of a clinic lab and more! If you are interested in learning about the agency and volunteer opportunities, please visit the volunteer tab of our website at outsidein.org. There you will find the dates and times of our public presentation, Presenting Outside In, and our volunteer application.

3. Sexual Assault Resource Center: Become an Advocate for Sexual Assault Survivors

Volunteer advocates are often the first line of contact for individuals seeking emotional support, information, resources, and medical and legal advocacy around sexual assault and exploitation in Washington and Multnomah Counties. Advocates provide these confidential services in two ways: (1) telephone response and (2) in-person response at safe locations such as hospitals, police departments and youth shelters.

See post for Volunteer Support Line Advocate duties and qualifications
