This Thursday, November 13, 2014 is the Hard Drive Smashing Event

11 am – 1 pm in the Sylvania Campus CC Building Mall, we will be “smashing hard drives”. Technically, our students will be disassembling your computer and using machines created by PCC engineering students to bore a large hole through your disk drive. Come out to support this event, mark the date on your calendar, and join the facebook event to help spread the word!

1. SMART (Start Making A Reader Today): Help Children Discover the Joy of Reading!

Support children’s literacy in your community and inspire a love of books and reading. As a SMART Reader, you’ll read one-on-one with children for 1 hour per week from now until May. If you’re not able to commit to a weekly session, apply to be a substitute reader. The Metro SMART program has volunteer reading opportunities at elementary schools in Multnomah, Clackamas, and Washington counties. SMART reading occurs during elementary school hours (M – F: 9 AM – 2 PM).

3 Forest Park Conservancy: Trail Rake-A-Thon, Saturday, November 22nd

Volunteer at Forest Park Conservancy’s Trail Rake-A-Thon! Saturday, November 22nd

Join The Forest Park Conservancy for our first annual Trail Rake-A-Thon event! Volunteers will be raking the trails clean of leaves and debris to help minimize mud this winter.

What: Forest Park Volunteer Work Party
When: Saturday, November 22nd, 9 am – 12 pm
Where: Multiple sites in Forest Park. Site assignments will be emailed to registered volunteers the week of the event.
BYOR! Bring your own rake if you have one! Tools and training will be provided. All ages welcome.

Morning coffee and snacks are courtesy of Stumptown Coffee Roasters and Food Front Cooperative Grocery. Following the work party, stick around for raffle prizes courtesy of KEEN and Columbia Sportswear.
