Student Advocate Position Details, Fall 2024 – Spring 2025
The Women’s Resource Center (WRC) is in search of a dedicated individual to join our team as a Student Advocate for 2024-2025 academic year, encompassing fall, winter, and spring terms.
Student Advocate positions are designed to accommodate your student schedule, offering an hourly rate of $15.45. Candidates chosen for this role are expected to:
- Work in person at a WRC on campus
- Commit to the 2024-2025 academic year
- Dedicate 12-16 hours per week, inclusive of a weekly staff meeting
- Fulfill all academic and professional criteria as specified in the Position Description.

- Title: Student Advocate
- Supervisor: Women’s Resource Center Coordinator
Position summary
The Student Advocate position provides staffing for the Women’s Resource Center including: sharing information, making effective referrals of all kinds, providing peer support for problem-solving and self-advocacy, providing peer support and advocacy for students affected by intimate partner and gender-based violence, developing and implementing educational programs, organizing events, providing outreach to the campus community about WRC programs and services.
Responsibilities
Communication and Support
- Respond to drop-in inquiries, answer the telephone, and handle email/social media inquiries appropriately
- Provide unbiased, nonjudgmental, and accurate information and referrals to relevant campus and community services
- Offer caring peer support and advocacy to students seeking assistance
- Provide peer advocacy support and referrals to students affected by domestic, intimate partner, and gender-based violence
Promotion and Outreach
- Promote WRC programs, services, events, and activities
- Create promotional materials and displays (flyers, posters, social media posts, etc.)
Collaboration and Meetings
- Communicate effectively and in a timely manner, working collaboratively with other staff members
- Attend a monthly Staff Meeting and participate in ongoing staff development sessions
- Collaborate with other Student Advocates, WRC Coordinator, and staff
- Collaborate with student organizations and other resource centers on various programs, conferences, and events
Administrative and Miscellaneous
- Complete all required data collection and record-keeping
- Maintain the cleanliness, friendliness, and safety of WRC
- Fulfill other duties as assigned
Minimum qualifications
Enrollment and Academic Requirements
- Enroll in at least 6 credits per term at PCC for the entire academic year
- Maintain an overall GPA of 2.5 or better
Knowledge and Interest
- Demonstrate a genuine interest and understanding of intersectional, multicultural feminism
- Show commitment to developing knowledge in anti-oppression work, social justice, and educational equity
- Exhibit sensitivity and solidarity with traditionally underrepresented groups, including people of color, queer folks, trans and gender-diverse individuals, women, students with disabilities, veterans, etc
Availability
- Maintain a flexible schedule with a minimum of 12 available hours during WRC operational hours to actively contribute to the program’s initiatives

Work location and modality
Positions offered will primarily be for fully in-person work. Any remote work requires access to a computer, a reliable internet connection, and Zoom capabilities (microphone, camera).
