Come learn about composting, whether you live in an apartment, house or out in the country. We will take about methods that work for you! You can also sign-up for the Thursday “build a worm bin composter” where you will be able to take home a fully functioning worm bin. Come learn about computer eCycling and why it’s so important.  Then learn how you can make a difference by participating in our Spring eCycling Project that will provide a place for students, staff, and the community to recycle their used computer equipment for free right here in our campus library from May 1 to June 9! 11:30- 1 pm

18th Earth Day Birthday party

PCC Sylvania Habitat Restoration’s will celebrate the 18th Earth Day Birthday with a party and cake for the first 24 or so!  April Ann’s team will provide real plates and forks and will wash them! : )  They will also be showing the film:  Momenta, coal export film documentary

Probably the most effective thing that you can do to protect the earth from climate change is to help pass a tax on carbon. Take Back the Tap

The Environmental Club invites you to learn about how Americans have bought into the myth that bottled water is purer and healthier than tap water. This misconception is largely the result of crafty marketing tactics from the bottled water industry, but the truth is that the federal government requires more rigorous safety monitoring of municipal tap water than it does of bottled water. Thinking Globally, Acting Locally: Finding Solutions through Sustainable Development

PCC Sylvania Habitat Restoration Team Work Party!

9 am until noon, meet at Parking Lot 10

We will meet at Parking Lot 10 (the most northeast parking lot kitty corner to the bookstore) at 9 am and then walk down to Sylvania Natural Area Park (SNAP!).  We will meet with Janelle St. Pierre of Portland Parks and Recreation, who will lead us in invasive species removal that day focusing on ivy, blackberry, and assorted other weeds.  We will have water, tools, gloves, and a few snacks.  Be sure to dress for the weather and to get a little muddy.  Blackberries can be prickly, so be sure to have long sleeves and pants!  Let’s help the Earth by letting some of our native species in this park get more of an advantage!  For more information, email afong@pcc.edu or call 971-722-4422.  If you would like to be a Habitat Team leader, you would be most welcome!
