Details about this class

Hello and thanks for your interest in ART 208: History of Asian art (China)!

This course will introduce you to Chinese art, beginning with the earliest works and continuing up through the modern era. We will look at a variety of different types of art, including painting, sculpture, architecture, ceramics, and calligraphy.

ART 208 is an asynchronous online class, meaning it isn't live. Instead, you are given the course material online and you usually have one week to complete it.

There is no required textbook for the class. Instead all readings and videos will be provided. Graded activities focus on discussion posts and brief quizzes. There is also a 3-4 page final writing assignment.

To learn more about the course and its topics, take a look at this syllabus from a previous class (please note that some of the graded activities will change, notably moving from 3 exams to brief weekly quizzes).

If you want to learn more about me, see my website. If you have any questions, please send me an email (julianne.sandlin@pcc.edu). Look forward to working with you this coming term!
