Details about this class

Hello!

I am so glad that you are interested in practicing meditation this term!

In this course you/we will expand and deepen your/our Meditation practice.

Why Meditate?

Mediation is a way for us to support and steady ourselves as we experience both the trials of life and the joys.

We will explore different forms of meditation and the benefits of a regular meditation practice.  This includes stress reduction, cultivating loving-kindness for ourselves and others, and practicing gratitude, and compassion.

We will be bringing mindfulness to the breath, movement, eating, and walking.

This class is a hybrid/remote course.  We will meet once per week on Zoom on Wednesdays from 7:30am – 8:50am.  In addition you will be practicing meditation daily or at least four times per week and keeping a Weekly Meditation log which you will submit weekly in D2L.  Note:  This class is only 8 weeks long.

This class is cross-listed with another CRN.  This means that students enrolled in the other section of this class will be present during our class time.

There is no textbook for this course. All reading and other materials will be provided through D2L Brightspace.

Final grades will be determined by attending our weekly class, completing the weekly Meditation log, and a Final Reflection Paper that is due at the end of the term.

Some of the benefits that I have received from my own meditation practice include:

  • Being fully present with myself and others.
  • Responding more compassionately to myself and others.
  • Being kinder & more generous with myself and others.
  • I am able to let things go & to keep a balanced perspective more often.
  • I have greater self-confidence.
  • I have improved my overall sense of well-being.
  • I experience more joy in my life and acceptance.

If you have any questions about this course please reach out to me at barbara.roberts@pcc.edu

I look forward to being with you this term!
