Details about this class

Proctored Exams: We will have two proctored exams. Exams can be taken on-campus or virtually.

Before deciding to take the exam virtually, please read the Student Guide to Virtually Proctored Exams in Zoom. If you choose to take the exam virtually, you will need two cameras to set up your space according to the requirements in this guide so that your testing space can be viewed by the instructor for the entire exam time. Note the exam times for the virtual option are 30 minutes longer as we will spend the first 30 minutes getting set up and having the instructor approve the virtual testing space.

    • Midterm Exam
      • Virtual: Friday, July 19, from 10:00 am - 12:30 pm (via Zoom)
    • Final Exam
      • Virtual: Friday, August 16, from 10:00 am - 12:30 pm (via Zoom)

Please reach out to Accessible Ed & Disability Resources at PCC to discuss options pertaining to accommodated testing.

I HIGHLY recommend purchasing the "MTH 65 Course Packet" from the PCC Bookstore to help support your learning. The packet costs about $12. To order, click on the "textbook" link in the course information, or go to the Bookstore from the MyPCC homepage.

The packet is 118 pages and includes the complete Video Lecture Outlines along with other important information such as the Course Calendar and Assignment Overview and WeBWork tips.  Having a printed copy of the Video Lecture Outlines is very helpful to notetaking and practicing the material in Algebra.  For most students, writing the process out by hand is an essential step to mastering Algebra.  Purchasing this packet is a great option because you do not need to print at home.

Technology

You need to have computer and internet access at least several times per week. You will need to make sure to have the following (further details/instructions are given during the first week):

  • a PDF reader (such as Adobe Acrobat Reader) to read the PDF handouts,
  • a way to print or electronically annotate PDF files for your written assignments,
  • a way to view YouTube videos,
  • familiarity with file management, email, and uploading documents.

Electronically submitted work will be printed and completed by hand, scanned, and uploaded to D2L, or electronically annotated and uploaded to D2L. There are other possible options for submitting your work. Please contact your instructor if you would like to use an alternate method of submission.

Online ORCCA/YouTube videos are the foundation for the lecture portion of the class.

No show policy

Your instructor can mark you as a "no show" if you do not participate in your class during the first week. This will remove you from the class. It is important to log in as soon as the class starts to see what the participation requirements are.
