Details about this class

Requirement: This is a corequisite support class for students enrolling in my MTH 105 class (online with scheduled meetings) that placed into MTH 58/60 and do not meet the regular prerequisites for the course. You must also register for the paired MTH 105 course: CRN 25176.

Hello!

My name is Barbara Zuercher (she/her) and I'll be teaching this course. For this course, we will be tackling some of the habits that make successful math students, while also supporting you with some math that you need to be successful in MTH 105. Take a look at the information below and email me if you have any questions or are concerned if the class will be a good fit for you!

This is an online (with scheduled meetings) class. That means you will need to attend and participate in class sessions via Zoom on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9am to 9:50am (which will be followed with the MTH 105 class from 10am to 12:20pm. Classes that meet over Zoom are not for everyone - it requires you be comfortable with technology and communicating via Zoom.  PCC has more information about the different types of classes we offer.

Participation: Participation is part of your grade, therefore attendance is required.  For each class session, you should plan on using your camera and microphone.

You should have a space set up in which you will be able to focus on our class sessions, and use a microphone and camera during class.  Sign up for this class only if you are planning on attending all the class sessions and actively participating in small groups.  We can work around an occasional absence, but you should register for the class with the intent on attending.

If you have accommodations through Accessible Ed & Disability Resources at PCC, please contact me so we can discuss your specific accommodations and how I can best support you.

If you have any questions or concerns about virtually proctored exams, please feel free to contact me.

Technology

We will use Zoom for our class sessions.  You will need a microphone and a camera to participate.  You should feel comfortable communicating in Zoom via camera and microphone, downloading and uploading files, using your Google Drive, and creating PDF files using a scanner or scanner app.

No show policy

Your instructor can mark you as a "no show" if you do not participate in your class during the first week. This will remove you from the class.

Students with disabilities

Students with disabilities should notify their instructor if accommodations are needed to take this class. For information about technologies that help people with disabilities taking Online based classes please visit the Disability Services website.
