Details about this class
MSD 223 covers performance appraisal, indirect compensation programs, improving productivity and quality of work life, employee rights and collective bargaining.
Some of you may be taking this course because you are interested in building a foundation for future or current full-time HR work. Many may be taking the course because you see the value of being familiar with HR laws and practices even though you don't plan to be a full-time HR professional. The course fulfills both purposes nicely.
MSD 223 is the second of two courses on the HR function. If you've taken the first course (MSD 222) this will be a natural continuation of that material. If you are taking this out of sequence, be sure to read the MSD 222 Overview document in the first week's material. Each part of the MSD 223 course is reasonably self-standing, so although taking MSD 222 first makes sense, it is not critical for taking the two course in reverse order.
