ENG199F Epic Storytelling on TV
Television drama is experiencing a golden age, with some critics noting that TV may have eclipsed film as the high form of visual storytelling. This class will examine how television is uniquely suited to experimentation in long-form stories. We will focus on multi-season dramas like The Wire, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, and others. We’ll also consider the evolution of TV drama and how TV differs from film. Prerequisites: (WR 115 and RD 115) or IRW 115 and MTH 20 or equivalent placement. Audit available. (See course content and outcomes.)
