Details about this class
Welcome to English 104. My name is Andrea Hills, and this is such a fun class to teach! The focus is on short stories from a variety of time periods, cultures and author backgrounds. As short stories don't take long to read (and there's an option to listen to many of them), it's a great way to explore elements of fiction and learn a lot about different writers, cultures, and types of writing.
This class is an asynchronous class, where students work individually at their own pace each week. While students are encouraged to connect with the teacher via Zoom for individual conferences, this class does not require weekly Zoom meetings or any in-person attendance.
Technology
This class does not require any special technology outside of the basic technology needed for any PCC online class.
No show policy
Your instructor can mark you as a "no show" if you do not participate in your class during the first week. This will remove you from the class. It is important to log in as soon as the class starts to see what the participation requirements are.
Online & Remote Teaching Technical Requirements
Please be sure to read the quick guide to Online Learning technical requirements.
Students with disabilities

Online Prerequisite | Start Guide for Online Learning
Before you take your first online class at PCC, you must complete the start guide for online learning. The start guide will help you decide if online classes are right for you. Once you complete the start guide, you will be eligible to register for online classes.
The Start Guide is not required for Remote classes but strongly recommended.
