Details about this class

Our class is unique from many public speaking courses because it is online and with scheduled live speech delivery. You will deliver your three speeches live using the Zoom conferencing tool with fellow students as the audience.

You will be required to deliver and attend three peer speeches - live over zoom, you will be placed in peer groups based on availability for live/synchronous meetings (an availability survey will be completed during week 1 coursework). You will schedule a day/time to deliver your speech live, and attend one live peer speeches during each these weeks:

  • Week 4: April 22-28
  • Week 6: May 6-12 
  • Week 10: June 3-9 

Technology

You will be recording video assignments weekly, and presenting three formal speeches (some with the requirement for digital visual aids). This means you will be required to use your webcam and microphone to capture both your verbal and nonverbal delivery on all speaking assignments.

No show policy

Your instructor can mark you as a "no show" if you do not participate in your class during the first week. This will remove you from the class. It is important to log in as soon as the class starts to see what the participation requirements are.

Online Prerequisite | Start Guide for Online Learning

Before you take your first online class at PCC, you must complete the start guide for online learning. The start guide will help you decide if online classes are right for you. Once you complete the start guide, you will be eligible to register for online classes.

The Start Guide is not required for Remote classes but strongly recommended.
