What is this class about?
Explores marketing activities which support and connect to other
business functions, such as management, finance, and logistics.
Covers elements of the marketing mix and how to use the marketing
mix elements to support the overall business. Provides an overview
of specific marketing topics including advertising, sales, branding
and research.
By the end of the term, you will be able to:
• Use the consumer decision making process, competitive analysis, situational analysis, and marketing
data to make marketing decisions.
• Identify target markets using market segmentation models and analyze the target markets to determine
their viability.
• Explain how the marketing mix (product, price, place, promotion, and social media/participation) are
used to develop a comprehensive marketing plan
• Conduct basic market research using primary and secondary sources.

CLASS ATTENDANCE AND ENGAGEMENT
Students are expected to attend class. Classes are more interesting when people participate and are
engaged in the course material. Students are expected to attend and engage with the class by participating
in class discussions, asking questions, and working with other students.
MANAGE YOUR TIME
Schedule time to do the online portion of the course work, complete the reading, study, and complete
assignments and quizzes. Treat these blocks of time seriously by sticking to them. Use the strategy of
chunking to break the work down into smaller tasks to be completed throughout the week.

as academic dishonesty. Students are allowed to use these tools for brainstorming, checking your own
work, and organizing your thoughts.

No show policy
Your instructor can mark you as a "no show" if you do not participate in your class during the first week. This will remove you from the class. It is important to log in as soon as the class starts to see what the participation requirements are.
