CADD Career Pathways

Students earning the CADD One Year Certificate will automatically be awarded the career pathways noted below.

CAD Operator Career Pathway Certificate

The CAD operator takes instructions from designers, drafting, engineering and other personnel to create 3D models. These models might be used for manufacturing, design concepts or prototyping. The CAD operator typically works under more experienced personnel.

Minimum 12 credits. Students must meet certificate requirements.

  • CADD 175 SolidWorks Fundamentals: 3 credits
  • CADD 185 Inventor Fundamentals: 3 credits
  • CADD 235 Materials and Design for Manufacturing Processes: 3 credits
  • CADD 275 SolidWorks Advanced: 3 credits
  • Total credits: 12

Mechanical Drafter Career Pathway Certificate

Using CAD, prepares detailed working diagrams of machinery and mechanical devices, including dimensions, fastening methods, and other engineering information. The mechanical drafter typically works under more experienced personnel.

Minimum 14 credits. Students must meet certificate requirements.

  • CADD 160 Drafting Fundamentals: 4 credits
  • CADD 175 SolidWorks Fundamentals: 3 credits

Technical Designer Career Pathway Certificate

The Technical Designer uses CAD to assist in design, 3D modeling and creation of production drawings. Using technical CAD skills, the technical designer works with others to assist in creation of design solutions.

Minimum 17 credits. Students must meet certificate requirements.
