The PCC Willow Creek Center earned a platinum LEED rating — the highest given — by the U.S. Green Building Council. LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design and is widely known as the industry standard for green structures. The center, which serves Washington County, is the first building constructed using money from the college’s $374 million bond measure passed in 2008. Features of the green building include rainwater harvesting, on-site storm water treatment, rooftop solar panels and regional and recycled materials. The lobby even has a touch-screen computer monitor that shows how much electrical energy is being consumed, how much is being generated by solar panels and how much water has been collected and used.
