Non-credit PCC class delves into ancient henna artwork

Henna has been used to temporarily adorn the body since the Middle Ages. Since then, the graceful and beautiful designs have become timeless works of art for not only wedding ceremonies in South Asia and the Middle East, but for people from all walks of life.
This winter, Portland Community College is offering a non-credit class where students will learn how to make their own henna designs in a comfortable, creative environment. Learn the ancient art of mehndi with professional henna artist Sanya Khan in the class, Basic Henna Body Art. Students will learn how to make natural henna paste, explore cultural uses, traditional patterns and techniques, and create their own fun designs.
The class will be from 5 to 9:30 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 13, Room 137, Tabor Hall, Southeast Center, 2305 S.E. 82nd Ave. Cost is $64. For more information, contact the PCC Community Education office at (503) 788-6265.
