Columbia Sportswear leader to speak at SSI event

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Senior Studies Institute at Portland Community College is hosting an orientation for the public from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 8, at the Beaverton Elks Lodge, 3500 S.W. 104th Ave.

The orientation will cover the different types of classes offered for the fall term and include an introduction of SSI board members. Gert Boyle, chair of the Columbia Sportswear Company board of directors, will be the featured speaker. She is known for her great leadership, which has earned her the reputation of the “tough mother” and being an entertaining speaker. Coffee and pastries will be available. The lodge is located one block north on 104th from Canyon Road near the Thrifty Truck Rental.

Through SSI, PCC offers a unique program for dynamic older adults who want to expand their horizons and connect with others. Members have a passionate interest in their subjects enthusiastically share their knowledge by moderating programs.
