PORTLAND, Ore. — Enjoy wine but want to learn more? Learn from the experts. This winter, Portland Community College will team up with local specialty shop, The Wine Cellar, to offer three non-credit classes designed to help you explore the world of wine and develop your tasting palette. Each class will be held at The Wine Cellar, 13486-A N.W. Cornell. Never sure just which bottle to pick? Take Be a Wine Snob in Under Three Hours and discover the five steps to experiencing wine. Students will sample different types of wine lightest to darkest, driest to sweetest and discover what they do and do not like about wine firsthand. The one-night class will be offered twice as follows: from 7 to 9:30 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 25, and Thursday, March 10. Cost is $29. From white and filled chocolates to the ever-popular double-dark chocolate, pair your favorite wines with just the right chocolates. A little Chocolate with Your Wine will feature plenty of opportunities to taste, plus show you the insider tricks for creating the ultimate dessert in about five minutes. The one-night class will meet from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8. Cost is $29. Do you still think that bland cheeses go with wines, or that only double soft havarti is for your cocktail party? With A Little Cheese with Your Wine, students will find out how to choose the right cheese to compliment the wine, then the right wine to compliment the cheese. The one-night class will meet from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 22. Cost is $29. For more information, contact PCC Community Education at 503-614-7308.
