Entertainment will feature performers of all ages.

Portland Community College’s Southeast Campus will once again become a lively gathering place when the Jade International Night Market returns Saturday, Aug. 29, from 4 to 10 p.m. Nearly 20,000 people are expected to celebrate the cultures, businesses and community organizations that make the Jade District one of Portland’s most vibrant neighborhoods.

For PCC, which has hosted the event since 2018, the night market is more than a major community event on campus. It is an opportunity to welcome neighbors from across Portland and Oregon, connect people with Southeast Portland, college programs and resources, and make the campus part of an evening centered on culture, local businesses and community.

The festival features more than 100 vendors offering heritage foods and handcrafted goods, supporting local small businesses and diverse entrepreneurs. There will be a full slate of cultural performances such as music and dance from the district’s diverse communities. The market takes place at the Southeast Campus (2305 SE 82nd Ave), near the Fubonn Shopping Center.

There will be plenty of arts and crafts for the kids.

There are many ways to get to the festival. Visitors are encouraged to leave the car at home and bike, walk or take public transit. Recent transportation improvements in the area include new crosswalks, protected bike lanes, greenways and sidewalks. TriMet’s FX2 and Line 72 stop at the Night Market, and the Southeast Campus offers abundant bicycle parking.

There are incentives, too. People who bike, walk or ride transit to the market can visit the Portland Bureau of Transportation booth to receive a $10 gift card. BIKETOWN riders can use code JADENIGHTMKT26 for a $25 credit on rides that begin or end at the event. Friends of Portland Clean Energy Fund and PBOT also are hosting a guided bike ride to the campus for anyone interested in learning safer routes to campus.
