Non-credit design classes explore problem solving, 3-D

PORTLAND, Ore. – Take your artistic flair to the next level with classes that challenge your inner designer. Portland Community College will offer two non-credit courses to stretch your skills in material manipulation. Both classes will be held at PCC’s Cascade Campus, 705 N. Killingsworth St. Design Basics will explore the foundation of color and design. Instructor Norman Thomas will put an emphasis on problem solving, critical skills and personal artistic vision. Students will use a broad range of materials and visit galleries to gain inspiration. The nine-week class will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays, June 26 through Aug. 21. Cost $119. Material list provided at first class. 3-D Design – Assemblage will delve into the possibilities of working in three dimensions. Students will create and assemble a small series of works composed of paper materials and found objects. The class also features gallery tours for added inspiration.
