Native American powwow set for Saturday, Jan. 17

SYLVANIA CAMPUS – Portland Community College will host the Fifth Annual Traditional Winter Powwow on Saturday, Jan. 17. The powwow will run from noon to 11 p.m. in the HT Building gymnasium at the Sylvania Campus, 12000 S.W. 49th Ave.The powwow’s main attractions include Native American dancing and drumming, arts and crafts vendors and informational exhibits. ASL and Native American sign language interpreters will be available during the event. The event is free and open to the public. Parking is also free. Honored guests include master of ceremonies Bob Tom, whip man Don Moccasin and color guard duties performed by the Northwest Indian Veterans Association.For more information, contact the Multicultural Center at 503-977-4112.
