PORTLAND, Ore. – Mediation is the single most powerful tool in dispute resolution. It could also become your most powerful professional asset with an upcoming non-credit seminar offered by Portland Community College. Mediation Training: Professional Seminar will explain how professional mediators can play pivotal roles in business negotiations, employee conflicts, family dispute settlements, and more. Professional mediator Tsipora Dimant will lead this intense training program which earns participants a certification of completion, recognized by employers."As a trained mediator, employers will quickly look to you for guidance in navigating the way to a win-win solution,"says Dimant.The seminar will take place over two weekends as follows: 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2; 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3; and 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4.  8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, and 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11. This fall, Portland Community College will offer the non-credit class, Dalai Lama in the Workplace – a pragmatic approach to incorporating ancient Buddhist principles into modern office culture.Instructor Jacqueline Mandell will explain how the workplace offers an environment where one can enhance kindness and integrity. From the teachings of the Dalai Lama, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, students will discover how to diffuse difficult situations, turn conflicts into opportunities, and bring peace and happiness to each work day.The class will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Oct. 7 through Oct. 21, at Lincoln High School, 1600 S.W.
