TIGARD, Ore. – Portland Community College has an abundance of recreation classes this spring that are designed to help students get out and stay active. These non-credit classes range from yoga to Tai Chi to canoeing, a little something for everybody.Canoeing/Progressive Fly Fishing – Canoeing is a four-week class that starts Wednesday, May 2, running from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Cook Park, located at 92nd and Durham Rd. Cost is $72. Progressive Fly Fishing, taught by Ron Lauzon, is an 11-week course that will go from 6 to 9 p.m. every Thursday starting April 5 at the library of Durham Elementary School, located at 8048 S.W. Shaffer Ln. Cost is $104.Tai Chi Quan Short Form – The 11-week course runs from 3 to 4 p.m. on Tuesdays starting on April 3 at the Tigard Senior Center (lower level), located at 8815 S.W. O’Mara St. Cost is $40. Connie Zhang will be the instructor.Yoga for the Older Adult – Cassandra Baisden will teach two sessions of this class that helps older citizens reap the benefits of yoga. The first 11-week class is from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Mondays starting April 2 at the lower level of the Tigard Senior Center. Cost is $45. The second 11-week offering is scheduled from 10:30 a.m. to noon every Monday and Friday starting April 2 in the lower level of the Tigard Senior Center. Cost is $95.Yoga Level I – Everything you ever wanted to know about yoga packed into an 11-week class. The course, taught by Urszula Wisniewski, is planned to run from 6 to 7 p.m. every Monday starting April 2 at Fowler Middle School, located at 10865 S.W. Walnut St. Cost is $38.Yoga Level I & II – Two relaxing Yoga classes, also instructed by Wisniewski, are scheduled for 11 weeks and will occur every Monday starting April 2 at the library of Fowler Middle School. The first course will go from 6 to 8:15 p.m. and the second, which will join the first one in progress, is slated from 7:15 to 8:15 p.m. The cost for the longer class is $68 and $38 for the shorter version.Great Water Aerobic Workout – Lia Kidoguchi teaches this fun workout in the water. The class goes from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m. every Monday and Thursday for 11 weeks. The course begins April 2 and will be held at the Tigard Swimming Center, located at 8680 S.W. Durham Rd.
