D2L has several tools that will help you see behind the scenes in order to answer these questions.

In this training session, we will not only discuss View Reports on Course Content, but also the analytical tools associated with Discussions, Quizzes, Rubrics, Grades, and Class Progress (which can reveal mode, median, and standard deviation).
