PCC Onboarding Philosophy

The most important action you take when welcoming a new employee is fostering a sense of belonging. This employee-centric approach should begin the moment an employee accepts the job offer and continue to the day they leave the organization. An onboarding experience that cultivates an employee’s sense of belonging, engages them authentically, and prioritizes their experience and work relationships can cultivate employee confidence and commitment to their colleagues and workplace.

Consider pointing your new employee to the Resources for New Employees site where they can find the New Hire Checklist.

How a new employee starts their journey at PCC will shape their future with us. Here at PCC, the hiring department plays the central role in onboarding new staff and faculty because they, above all others, best understand the job functionalities, expectations, necessities, and department dynamics the new employee should understand in order to succeed in their role.

A positive onboarding experience results in the new employee feeling prepared, empowered, and dedicated to the team. Hiring departments who prioritize employee belonging as a key practice can therefore retain great talent, avoid painful and costly turnover, and increase the productivity and morale of their team.
