Environmental Health and Safety
“Out of this nettle, danger, we pluck this flower, safety.” Henry IV Part 1
The Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) Department supports the mission of PCC by promoting health, safety and environmental protection throughout the District with the objective of maintaining a safe learning and working environment. EH&S provides leadership in developing and supporting policies, procedures, programs and training opportunities in support of the protection of life, property, and the environment. Programs include disciplines such as: environmental management (soil, water), hazardous material and waste, environmental health, chemical hygiene, biohazard safety, construction and occupational health and safety.
What’s Happening in EH&S
EH&S is happy to announce that a new training is available in PCC’s learning management system. Stormwater Protection has been developed to provide key information about activities that impact stormwater, risks to stormwater systems and their controls, as well as department activities that protect stormwater. It is recommended that any departments that have outdoor activities or work that could impact stormwater management systems complete this training.
Also available now in PCC’s learning management system, the Safe Lifting & Material Handling training course is now available in Chinese, Russian, Spanish, and Vietnamese.
