Faculty, are you interested in getting your students involved in the upcoming 18th Annual Pow-Wow?

The Sylvania Multicultural Center is seeking to partner with faculty who will be teaching Winter Term courses!

The Pow-Wow is an opportunity to understand the Native American community and their history. In addition, there are a multitude of ways to connect the event’s volunteer opportunities to your course’s learning outcomes!

Faculty interested in exploring this potential partnership can join us in the Sylvania TLC (CC 216) on Wednesday, November 30th from 11am-1pm. This workshop has an open structure and faculty can drop in anytime between 11am-1pm! Food will be provided!

Workshop participants will…
  • Learn: about the 18th Annual Pow-Wow from Jude Pelpola, Student Coordinator for the Sylvania Multicultural Center
  • Do: brainstorming and start developing a CBL component for your Winter courses with the support of Laura Sanders, CBL Faculty Coordinator

About the Pow-Wow

The 18th annual Pow-Wow celebration will take place on January 21, 2017 at Sylvaina campus. The Pow-Wow attracts more than 1000 participants every year making it a grand event.This Cultural event features drum groups and dancers from around the region from the Native American community.
