CBL IS HIRING STUDENT ADVOCATES!

CBL, in partnership with Passion Impact and the Financial Aid Work Study Program, is hiring work study students at each of the 4 PCC campuses to be Community Engagement Advocates for the 2016-2017 Academic Year. Please share the following work study position announcement with your current and former CBL students!

Work Study Job Description:

Work Schedule: TBD (flexible hours)

Hours per Week: 6-8

Wage/Salary: $12

Work Site Location: TBD Community Organization and a PCC Campus

I. Serve as a representative of Passion Impact, PCC Community Based Learning, and PCC Federal Work Study

II. Research opportunities for community engagement (volunteering)

  • 2 hrs/week of service (cumulative 6 times; split between 2 organizations that are chosen from research)
  • Document Experience (informal: reflection; formal: social media, blog posts, XRay PSA, etc..)

III. Outreach to PCC students and share information about Community Engagement Opportunities which include, but are not limited to, CBL courses, Community Service Work Study (CSWS) positions, and volunteer opportunities.

  • Participate in speaking to classes (class raps), on and off campus tabling, and student panels
  • Assist in the development of recruitment and promotional materials
  • Follow up with potential FWS CSWS students for eligibility and identification of worksite
  • Collect and enter student contact information into database

IV. Assist with other projects including, but not limited to:

  • Passion Impact events and activities
  • CBL events and activities

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 6 credit course load at PCC
  • Must have completed a Community-Based Learning (service-learning) project/assignment

Desire to serve the community; Self-motivated; Verbal and Written Communication; Public Speaking; Outreach; Recruitment; Planning; Timely follow-through on tasks; Ability to communicate program goals and processes clearly; Microsoft Office; Google Drive

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Commitment of at least Fall, Winter, and Spring terms
  • Reliable Transportation
