The purpose of the English for Speakers of Other Languages Tutoring Center is to provide supplemental support for ESOL class work in reading, writing, speaking, and pronunciation for all adults whose native language is not English and who are enrolled in ESOL classes from Levels 4 through 8. The ultimate goal is to prepare the students for regular college coursework at PCC.

Hours

The Tutoring Center will be open from 9am to 6pm Monday through Thursday and until 2pm on Fridays. There will be tutors in the center at the following times:

Monday through Thursday:
9am - 4pm and 5pm - 6pm

Friday:
9am - 2pm

Conversation hours are offered on Thursdays from 1pm to 2pm and Fridays from noon to 1pm.

The center is operated on a drop-in basis and is equipped with multimedia materials. To accommodate different student needs the center offers small group discussions, conversation practice, and self-paced independent study. The computers in the Center have word processing software and internet access and are equipped with microphones and headsets. However, the emphasis is primarily on one-on-one quality tutoring, mostly by current ESOL instructors, to assist students with specific assignments.
