CIO brief: Funding analysis and projects

Michael Northover and Loraine Schmitt have begun an analysis of the Student Technology Fee – funding, allocation and usage. Kicked off phase I of Data at Rest initiative – this will migrate all personal folders (several Terabytes of data) to Google Drive, providing encryption and enhanced data security while saving about $90K a year in projected in-house storage upgrades. Completed phase I of Student Identity Management project – new student credential data is now being fed to Active Directory and phase II (underway) will migrate all student credentials to Active Directory. Once complete, we will retire two legacy systems that represent a significant security vulnerability. 50 active projects in IT at this time.
