Details about this class
This class combines weekly in-person meetings with online coursework. Each week, students will read articles, watch videos, and explore topics related to stress, its health impacts, and strategies for managing it. All readings, videos, and other course materials are available through D2L Brightspace. There is no required textbook.
Our in-person class meetings focus on discussions, collaborative activities, and hands-on learning experiences that help students apply what they’ve learned online. Some activities may take place outside the classroom as we explore campus spaces and resources.
Regular in-person attendance and active participation are important parts of this course. Because we meet only once a week, our class time is designed around activities and learning experiences that cannot always be made up independently. In-class participation and activities contribute to your overall grade.
Students will complete weekly handwritten Cornell Notes as they work through the online learning materials. Cornell Notes are a structured note-taking method that helps students organize key ideas, identify questions, and summarize what they’ve learned. Students bring their notes to class each week to support discussions and activities and connect the online materials with our in-person learning.
If you have questions about the course or whether this format will work for you, please contact me at alissa.leavitt@pcc.edu. I’m happy to help.
Note: Students must attend the first class; otherwise, they risk being dropped from the class, per PCC's Grading Guidelines.
