Details about this class
This intro to fiction course will have a focus on queer literature. In this course, we'll be considering what makes something a story, why reading fiction is important--and of course, reading stories. Each week our fiction or poems will center around a topic that helps us explore the different concepts for that week. The focus on queer literature may also be a bit more broad than you might expect:
“Queer' not as being about who you're having sex with (that can be a dimension of it); but 'queer' as being about the self that is at odds with everything around it and that has to invent and create and find a place to speak and to thrive and to live.”
― bell hooks
